Serious question - anybody here drink one or two a day? It is only 10 grams of carbs or so.

No, but i will drink 9-10 on a friday or saturday night. Not a good habit, but i am in my late twenties and live in Dublin so what do you want from?? Plus I am not a body builder just a big dude who plays rugby. The carbs are not the problem, it is the alcohol that contains the same calories as fat and reduces natural testosterone pproduction
No. When I am focused on diet and exercise, then I do not cheat. For me, one beer leads to two...., and never daily. What's the point? If the point is to catch a buzz, there are better ways than beer.
Stay strict. One cheat leads to two, and then what harm would a soda pop, make? And then while you are at it, one slice of pizza wouldn't hurt, would it? For me, focus is binary... I'm either eating clean or i'm not.
Unless your intent is training in a casual manner?
Yeah if you drink beer daily or like i do, you will never get below the mid teens in BF.. just too many empty calories
It's how I get my PWO carbs. I shoot for about 100-150g carbs PWO so I get plenty of beer and I mix it with coca cola and then chug it with 40g protein worth of milk.
Times is right, good advice. Twist, now I really know you have a sense of humor!! You got to save that for April 1st,!!
Stay away from it when concentration on cycles and trying to get good results
alcohol is 7kcal/gram, in between carbs/protein and fat. Dont forget to add mixers
Sigh. I guess no more after the current stock is depleted . . .
Cut down to only one beer last night . . . going to have to work down slowly . . . LOL!
gbrice75 - Very apt question to which I am still attempting to discern an answer - and you are right, obviously if I had goals of 7% bodyfat even a couple hundred extra calories would be a bad thing, whereas at 12% it might not be a big deal, if that is what you were getting at.
My only goal right now is getting larger, leaner muscle, which is tougher at my age than it was a decade ago.
When on cycle I stay away from alcohol unless it's a special occasion like a family get together. Then I only have 1.
My question is...If a guy works hard for months cutting, dieting, exercising like a machine staying away from alcohol and other empty calories is it really that bad to take a week...go on vacation...mexico for a week...relax, recover, eat, get drunk, live...and then return and get right back on the wagon?
mmmmm beeeeerrr gggllll (drooling ala homer simpson)
Unless you drinking it from brysz glass, nothing good will come of it!
In the winter I will drink one after I get home depending were I am at in my training and diet. Spring and Summer I only bing at the lake. I work my tail off to be able to drink beer and be cut for the lake. Almost the only reason I train is for my sun, beer, boats and babes...![]()

Yep, that's pretty much what I was getting at. It all boils down to - you are what you eat... or drink in this case. Let's say 2 people, twins so the genetics are as close as possible, and starting off with the exact same stats ate the exact same diet, trained the same etc but one guy drank 1-2 beers/day. The other guy is going to look better in the end.
So again, it comes down to how hardcore you want to be. No, I don't think it will make or break a diet - so long as you account for their macros/calories in your daily allotment. Having said that, there are better sources those calories could be coming from obviously, and this is what i'm talking about.
Definitely not! I'll be going to Mexico in a few months and will be eating like the fat fvck I am at heart, drinking like the drunk i'm hereditarily predisposed to be, and sleeping when i'm not doing either of those 2 things. Funny enough, I still train on vacation, because I feel strong as hell from all the extra carbs, lol!
Lmao MS! I do the same, minus the boats.
Something I've been wondering about - alcohol has 7cal per gram so if a Bud Light has 110cal, are the 110 from the hops, barley, etc. in addition to the 7cal per gram of alcohol or is the caloric content of the alcohol included in the 110cal. I have always been under the impression it's not included b/c the alcohol doesn't actually have caloric content until the liver converts it into acetaldehyde. I know it doesn't really matter b/c alcohol and especially beer is terrible regardless, but just curious. BTW, for me alcohol and beer = kryptonite.
lol!i am such a stoopid noobie here. I just figured out what this meant.
That avatar makes me want to
I drank four beers last night! And a glass of scotch!
No, it is not an addition to my diet. It was a last hurrah - at least for a while. I am eating like suggested by a couple of others starting today, and moving forward I will try my best to follow the suggestions. I can already see that it is going to be expensive, and the beer savings will not make up for it.
I do have to wonder how many have jobs, judging by the workouts and eating schedules posted! I will have to modify some of the suggestions during the workweek by necessity, but I am guessing that even with the modifications I will still be vastly improved over what I was doing before.
I was prepared to ignore the advice about beer, but after reading the banana thread, and realizing how off my prior decisions were, I decided to more carefully consider what is written here.
