Can someone answer this DHEA question?
My wife found this on wikipedia and now she's worried. Can someone convince her otherwise?
Wikipedia on DHEA
"It is not known whether DHEA is safe for long-term use. Some researchers believe DHEA supplements might actually raise the risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, diabetes,[23] and stroke. DHEA may stimulate tumor growth in types of cancer that are sensitive to hormones, such as some types of breast, uterine, and prostate cancer.[23] DHEA may increase prostate swelling in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an enlarged prostate gland.[22]"
Thanks

My god. Whatever you do, don't let her google a detailed list of side effects of vitamin C! Also, if aspirin came out today it would be a controlled substance.
DHEA is safe in moderation like anything else. It's part of your hormonal pathways..

You could just do like the pharmaceutical companies do and play some nice mellow music in the background wow she reads about it so it will be ignored. I think it's funny how they show field and butterflies and puffy clouds while telling you how a certain prescription medication can increase the risk of heart attack, depression, suicide, diarrhea and other severe stomach issues but as long as they're playing this nice music everybody just ignores all the bad warnings.

tell her to look at the actual references... not wikipedia.
furthermore, tell her we don't know the long term consequences of just about any drug... but we do know the human body naturally produces DHEA... seems like a fairly safe bet at physiologic doses, no?

Some people take 7-keto thinking its equivalent to DHEA, but it isn't. Just a little warning.
