Ultrasensitive Estradiol vs. (Normal) Estradiol Blood Tests
Thought I'd share my anecdote between the ultrasensitive estradiol and the typical estradiol blood test. I was curious myself so ran both tests to compare the difference.
I believe the most prevalent assumption is the non-sensitive test is skewed with a higher result than compared with the sensitive panel (usually lower). It was opposite for me:
ESTRADIOL, ULTRASENSITIVE LC/MS/MS: 42 HIGH [< OR = 29 pg/mL]
ESTRADIOL: 29 [< OR = 39 pg/mL]
TESTOSTERONE, TOTAL, LC/MS/MS: 1052 [250-1100 ng/dL]
I'm unsure of the methodology of the sensitive panel performed with LabCorp, as the above was drawn through LabQuest (using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry, which is considered the industry gold standard).
