    Whispers of BSL in Texas

    A friend of mine in Texas sent me this...I know a lot of us on the forum own bull-breed dogs, this should concern those of you who live in Tx. Here in Miami they've banned APBTs already, and tried to ban 70 more "dangerous" breeds.

    A petition has been created in Jacksonville that would require owners of “pit bulls” to be “trained and certified” to own the “breed.” The petition creators intend to present this petition to their Texas Senator, Robert Nichols, in an effort to get a state law created to this effect.

    Now they tell you what kind of dog you can own.
    It's not like you're trying to keep a tiger as a pet.
    If your dog bites someone, you should have to answer for it at that point.

    Yeah...somehow I don't think Texans would take to kindly to people telling them how to raise their dogs...the ban on APBT's didn't work here in Miami.

    In some of the cities from around here. They are requiring a 250,000 dollar insurance policy for anyone who owns pit bulls. There is a big fighting problem and yearly several people are attacked by fight dogs that get out.

    Logic like that is the problem. Instead of cracking down hard on the people that are actively contributing to a safety problem and actively breaking laws, they'd rather just be lazy and make it too expensive to legally own APBTs.

    I agree, and its not like the people that are fighting the dogs have them registered or tagged anyway.....Then again the law doesnt have to make sense, look at our drug laws for example.
