Anabolic steroids are synthetic hormones that mimic the effects of testosterone in the body. They are often used by athletes and bodybuilders to enhance performance and increase muscle mass, but long-term use of anabolic steroids can cause a number of serious side effects, including damage to the eyes.
How Steroids Affect the Eyes
There are a number of potential side effects associated with the misuse of anabolic steroids, and some of these may affect the eyes. Some possible side effects of anabolic steroids on the eyes include:
● Glaucoma: Anabolic steroids can increase the pressure inside the eye, which can lead to glaucoma. Symptoms of glaucoma may include headache, eye pain, and vision loss.
● Cataracts: Anabolic steroids can increase the risk of developing cataracts, which are cloudy areas in the lens of the eye. This can cause vision to become blurry or distorted and may require surgical treatment to correct.
● Infections: Anabolic steroids can weaken the immune system, making it easier for infections to occur in the eye. Symptoms of an eye infection may include redness, swelling, and discharge.
● Dry eye: Anabolic steroids can cause dryness and irritation in the eye, leading to dry eye syndrome. Symptoms of dry eye may include dryness, itching, and redness.
● Central serous chorioretinopathy: Steroids can cause central serous chorioretinopathy, a serious side effect of steroid medication that causes a buildup of fluid underneath the retina. This can lead to retinal detachment and vision loss. Symptoms of CSC may include blurred vision in one or both eyes, and a sudden loss of vision.
It's important to note that these side effects are more likely to occur in people who use high doses of steroids for long periods of time, such as bodybuilders. If you are a bodybuilder using steroids and are experiencing any changes in your vision or other eye-related symptoms, it's important to speak with your healthcare provider as soon as possible. They can help you determine the cause of the problem and recommend the appropriate

For now, it's must natural testosterone supplements for me: maca, turkesterone, fedogia, dhea caps, ashgwanda, ginseng--basically herbs and 20 deep knee bends in the morning, at least 15 minutes of sunshine at 3 x a week--- these are all good to increase natural Testosterone levels....

Cataracts? Well *everyone* will get them, depending on if they live long enough....not sure if this will hasten the process, but at my lower 50s age range, the opthalmologist told me I have minor cataracts that will take several years to develop to the point where cataract surgery will be needed....
