I would try your 40 minutes at about 130 beats a minute for the duration, and see if you don't feel better after it is done. I also mix about 10g of glutamine in my water that I sip while I do my cardio.
Like SwoleCat and Khurrams I feel great after my morning cardio and a quick shower. I look forward to it to start my morning.
