I would cycle on for 2 months, then off 1. You definitley need to drink at least 1 gal of water a day, b/c it is very hard on your kidneys. You'll maintain most of your strength. Of course, thats dependant on your intensity level and diet. But by the time you cycle back on, you shouldnt have lost alot.
