Well my buddy sais that I should only have one protien shake a day and the rest has to come from food. I know this is the best way to do it, but is it mandatory or can I substatute a meal or two more for shakes? Thanks
Billy

What was your "buddy's" reasoning for this?
Makes no sense at all to me.

I thought if you were dieting, that digesting whole foods has a thermic affect, and that more calories are burned.
I drink two a day, sometimes three.
I drink a pro/dex shake b4 workout and a pro/dex shake after work out, and every once in a while, a pro/flax shake before bed. Most of the time it's tuna/flax though...
I think you should get the majority of your protein intake through food but not limiting your shakes to one a day. that's retarded.
I drink two. PWO pro/dex and before bed pro/flax. You may need more depending on how much protein your getting from food. Somedays you might need an extra shake to get your protein intake to par and somedays you may take in enough protein from food. If your going to only drink one, please make it your PWO pro/dex.
I drink 3 shakes a day 55 grams of protein each. Procomplex rocky road YUM!
During the last 2-3 maybe 4 weeks before an event (show/shoot/etc.) I'd switch to solid foods, yes. At all other times of "dieting down" there is no issue w/using protein powder w/water and healthy fats. Basically three great things for the body.Originally Posted by alphaman

3 here, one for breakfast with oatmeal, PWO with dex and bedtime with fax![]()
I drink one first thing in the morning, one pwo with dextrose and sometimes one right before bed with flax.
I think your buddy might mean more or less to try and get most of your protein from food. That can be hard to do though.
Cool deal that makes me feel a little better. Sometimes I just dont have the time to make the extra meals and the shakes are just so easy. Thanks guys
Billy
your buddies reasoning may come from the idea of eating different sources of protein to get different amino's.
