Buying a Tennis Racket

I just like playing tennis for fun once in a while, I think I'm gonna go out and buy a racket tommorrow. I don't know anything about rackets, they're pretty much all the same to me. I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience in buying a racket and if there are specific things to look for. (Kinda like buyig a car right?)

Post any tips you have.

Well I wouldent buy one from a store, head out to a sports authority or a tennis warehouse and feel em out bro, try em and take some swings, find the model you want and hit ebay, youll save yourself a helluva lota cash...Me personally I love Babolat...amazing feel and all round great racket company.

I believe 'Wilson' & 'Head' make the best rackets around.

I got like 4 fischers if you want to buy one off me, i dont think you would anyways, they are small heads, require a little bit more skill. try a Wilson Pro Staff, i think i got a sampras one sitting in the back, older ones were a little nicer.

If your starting out just buy a cheap one...my gf was ranked pretty high once in our sourounding states...I just purchased one from walmart to start out..

Tennis warehouse has great rackets also..if your just starting she suggested a cheap one...then later on if you get more serious upgrade to like a wilson t5 triad mid...thats a great one but it might not be produced anymore.

since you're starting out, don't spend more than $35. hit up the dick's/galyan's in okemos, they have a pretty good selection.

just get one that's cheap, light, and oversized. then if you like it you can get the same one as federer.

I was in the same boat as you a year ago, I bought a prince racquet. I think it was like $30. I got a recommendation from some tennis players at Lifetime Fitness. It is fun, kind of breaks up the monotomy of cardio if you use it right (HR up). You need a good partner for this.

go with a racket with a larger head size. Babaloat makes some good rackets.. Also put a durable string in there. Ask for a luxilion string, it will give you some extra spin..
