Route 66

Hi,

Me and a friend of mine is thinking about going to the US and drive route 66 on a harley sometime next year. Anyone here done that before? Would you suggest going alone or join a group? I like the idea of going alone and go at my own pace, but it might be alot easier to go with someone who actuallly know where we are going. What do you guys think?

safety in numbers. Portions of Rt 66 are very very desolate. just my .02 worth.

I rode 66 from west to east in a fatboy with a passanger, i love it and was very lucky, since i had no trouble, but if I was to do it again I would problably look for a group, since as Teabagger says it is very desolate and in certain areas there is not even a mobil phone signal.

PD: I now this has nothing to do with this thread, nor I intend to highjack the thread, but can any body help me, I dond know why I can not initiate my own threads or questions, what do I need to do, the only thing I am permited to do is anwser or post on existing threads, as you can see there is no way that could have post this quations since I can not initiate my own threads.....please do not flamme me to bad.
