My friend got busted last night...What to do?

So last night, my friend got pulled over for his window tint. When he opened his glove box to get the registration, a bag of D-bol fell out. The cop asked what it was? He answered "I don't know, it's something to gain weight." So, the cop took it and said they were going to send it off to have it analyzed. What do you guys think they'll do? He only had about 80 or so left in the bag. Do you think they'll nail him or what?

What should he say or do?

Does not look like it had much on him but I would suggest cleaning house in case they want to come around and ask more questions.. Oh and tell him to keep his mouth shut and don't admit to anything.

This happened to someone on this board a while back and it took like 3-4 months before they came a calling for him to show up in court.

thats a small amount, only a posesion charge, not too serious. Im sure it will get droped down to paying a fine. Also depends on his record.

On such a minor catch it's likely nothing will develop, but I agree with Oldman about cleaning the house just in case. If his card is pulled, as in the post Old alluded to earlier he will be prosecuted for possession with intent to use. And punishment will be contingent upon record, so I hope he has no priors.

Completely depends on what state you're in and the way the drug laws are written. Sometimes even a seemingly small amount of pills can be considered a trafficking amount and that crime carries minimum mandatories in most states. In all likelihood they will send it out to a lab to be tested (sometimes takes months), it'll come back positive and the cops will submit it to the local State Attorney's office who will petition for a felony possession warrant. What sucks for your friend is that he won't know that the warrant was issued and all of a sudden one day at home or at work the local deputies will come calling. He needs to hire an attorney asap.

Definately advise him to talk to a lawyer. Lets hope that it was a dirty cop, who is going to keep it for himself. But like Old had mentioned, there was a AR member who had gone through the same thing. Then months later, the cops come to his door, giving him a court date.

first off, tell him to exercise his right to stay silent.......if they do anything at all he will end up going to court, if he is found guilty then I don't think he would see anything more than a fine, a class, community service, or a short probation period.......BTW tell your buddy to try and be a little more slick

Your buddy needs an attorney as everyone said. However, something you need to know. When the overhead light rack on the car is turned on, it automatically initiates the dash-mounted camera and a microphone that is located on the officer, which records the conversation between you two. If the cop confiscated the gear on camera, but didnt turn it in, there would be evidence of that, so in all likelyhood he turned the gear in. However, if your attorney finds there is no summons, then your buddy's lawyer should follow up, and then they'll pull the video from that stop,and if the cop snatched the gear, he'll be the one goin to jail.

If this was a routine traffic stop and the guy would had said with confidence that it was vitamin C or echinacea when the cop asked what was in the bag I seriously doubt that the cop would still go through the hassle of having it analyzed. Just think of how stupid the cop would look to his bosses if had waited the time and money to have a vitamin busted.
This is just another example of needing to play it cool around cops. Why would your friend say, “I don't know, it's something to gain weight”. That is like a cop finding a bag of white powder and saying, “I’m not sure what it is but I think it’s something to help keep me up for the next 2 days.”

This is what you need to do in any circumstance when it comes to LE. Oh yeah .. I know what I'm talkin about.

Don't bother getting a lawyer until LE comes back and tries to charge you with something.

Chances are...

A) They won't pursue this any further.
B) They will try to test it for a variety of possible narcotics and all the tests will come back inconclusive.
C) The DA will not even bother with this case due to the amount of time it took them to identify the substance.

Don't get a lawyer until you are charged with something. They will need to apply for a warrent through the District Attorney's office and chances are they will decide to not pursue this.

If they come back and contact him then get a lawyer immediately after you are charged with a crime.

You have to understand that last month I believe the 26th congress passed new harsher laws on Anabolics. The ratio is now 1:1 on dosage units. Every tablet is considered a dosage unit, and every .5ml's is a dosage unit. This means there are 20 dosage units in a single 10ml vial. As opposed to the old law where 49grams or more was considered for personal use. They have upped the antie considerably and its now much easier to get charged with intent to distribute. So I'd say he has a good chance of the DA wanting to make an example out of him with his 80 dosage units.

Thanks for all the advice guys. He just told me that the pills were in a presciption bottle for allergies and the cop asked to look inside and saw the blue hearts. That's when he started asking questions.

As I stated, his English is bad. So I think he got a little scared and asnwered the way he did.

Also...for those that live in Texas, they weigh everything and then conclude wether or not it is distribution, regardless of concentration. For instance, you could have 1mg of testosterone suspended in 1000ml's of oil, and you will get charged for the weight of the oil, not the 1mg. Yes its a ****ed up law, guess thats what they mean when they say "Dont Mess With Texas." They also count the box or anything thats attached to it as part of the weight.
