Post WO nutrition after cardio alone

I've searched many times and can only find threads that alude to PWO shake nutrition for those who do cardio after weights.

    My question is:

If I'm doing cardio at 65% max HR for 45 minutes on an empty stomach (except for 200mgs caffeine), followed by abs, 30mins after waking up in the morning, what should be in my post-workout shake and should it be consumed immediately upon finishing?

The "How to Cut" thread stipulates breakfast should have carbs in, so is it impacting my fat-burning aims if I eat protein/carbs 45 minutes after my shake?

no...when you go do cardio on an empty stomach you are going to be burning the optimal amount of fat...i like to go home and have a protein shake asap, if not before you leave the gym or on the way home...then once home i cook 8-10 eggwhites and 1/2-3/4 cup oats...this will give you the protein and carbs that you need afetr your workout to fill up the glcogen stores, and get the protein into you as well....

Fat burning will be minimal after the low intensity cardio you're doing anyway, so you may as well eat ASAP to stay out of a catabolic state. Depending on your dieting goals, WEBB gave some good advice. A protein shake on the way home and then a solid meal works well. Just make sure to figure it into your diet and daily macros.

But the biggest problem I see is the abs training after cardio. You're already running on empty, just got done with 45 minutes of cardio, then you're gonna train your core muscles? That has catabolism written all over it.

So you reckon do abs before cardio, or must it be on another day?

Abs before cardio is just as bad. You should never do any anaerobic training on an empty stomach. Do it with your workout, or later in the day if an 'off' day.

i take a shake to the gym in the morning, then after my cardio i have my shake and do abs...then head home....and have a meal...also if you are like me and train abs every day then it only takes 15-20 minutes to do 3 sets everday....so i can be in and out fairly quick so catabolism stays to a minimum...also i take a bcaa in the morning before i go to help stop catabolism by causing a slight insulin spike...

I do the same thing when bulking, but the pro shake doesn't fit into my diet when cutting. I try to keep to whole food only when cutting cept PWO.

I like it. I'll adopt your aproach and see how it goes.

    Thanks, guys.
