    Chiro/Neck problems

Do you guys think a chiropracter is beneficial for neck injuries? It bothers me that the chiroparactor I go to suggested that If i do trap work I should use ten pounds, WTF? Id be in the gym all day! I've been getting neck spasms at the base of my neck lately. If i continue training it progresses into a migraine. The chiro cracks my neck and it seems like the tension goes away. Is there a cheaper alternative, other than ice, to reduce the spasm? Should I keep seeing the chiro?

Don't know but seems that my experiences with Ciro's are that they know how to keep you coming back. You might consider a muscle relaxer, ask
your Doc for something like Soma.

Yeah take a muscle relaxer to fight your bodies natural defense. By making the muscle let go against it's will you are leavin yourself open to injury because that muscle spasm is what is protecting your bones from grinding, or irritating the nerves in the area or whatever the case may be. Also chiropractors don't sit in their offices and scheme up ways to make you come back.......... you should go regularly to keep your body functioning correctly as it is........would you buy a new car and never take it in to get the oil changed, tires rotated etc? Would you get a prescription for some pills from the hospital and only take one, two, or only three of the pills and get rid of an infection. NO, you would take all 30 or 60 or whatever pills. The truth is there are way more than 100 chiro techniques and they all work. If you don't like the way one works then give another one a fair try. Other thing to consider is that yes, some chiropractors from certain schools slip through without really knowing everything..... so try a different one. But hey, what profession doesn't have some people trying to give it a bad name.

Thanks for the info guys. I just wish my chiro was more experienced with bodybuilding/weightlifting. I get the feeling that shes against it. However, her treatment has helped alleviate the pain and relax the muscles in my neck. I just wish I had the electro things she hooks up to my neck, they really help too.

Your right there is a place for Ciro's and they have helped me. I have a couple of buldging disc's and muscle spasm's cause a nerve to pinch once in a while. Like I posted "I only take them when I have to" One bottle has lasted a couple of years, kind of like bextra.
