Confused on daily caloric intake...Help guys!

    hey guys,

I've been off gH and aas for a good 12 months now. when i was on the growth, honestly i could have eaten frozen piss popsicles and put on 25lbs of muscle AND no fat! haha but now i've been off it for a while....and i never really knew how many calories i need to consume a day to put on lean muscle(clean bulk) Since growth did all the work for me. so i'll tell u the most i can about myself: i'm 24 6'5 240-245lbs.. 11%bf. besides working out i dont do any other calorie burning activities throughout the day. with my stats, how many calories should i take in a day to put on lean muscle without putting on fat also. thanks guys.

Search for Harris Benedict formula on google.

Should give you a place to start.

    Alright, I take that back.

I ran your number through the Katch-McArdle Formula, (its an excel spreadsheet I downloaded) and to maintain your weight you need 3824 calories.

So aprox. 4324 calories to put on lean mass.

I'm too lazy to run your numbers through the Harris Benedict right now, but I'd imagine it'd be close to the Katch-McArdle.

    Just watch your arithmetic.

to add in the calories i use olive oil....about 2 tbsps each meal...which is around 5-6 meals a day......people say not to mix carbs and fats during each meal...so im guessin one meal i eat pro/fat and other meal pro/carb??? thats how it goes? but i cant have pro/carb/fat at the same time......is that how it works??

Yes, that's correct if your following the theory of macronutrient seperation.
I myself, personally, utilize this idea to a large extent.

However, many respected vets on this board mix macros regularly and have amazing physiques. You'll find there is no one way to do it, but don't despair.

Try separating them for a while and see how you like it. If you do decide to mix fats and carbs, then make especially sure that your carbs are low GI (oats and sweet potatoes are two examples of low GI carbs).

I find in my diet that I end up mixing fats and carbs a little more than I intend, frequently, simply because oats have a fair amount of fat in them and I utilize oats for carbs.

But it sounds like you're on the right track. If at all possible, try to get in at least 6 meals, your body will thank you.

    Good luck!

Superballer is pretty much on with that info. Once you find your maintenance level of calories, go roughly 300-500 over. Since your a bigger guy, you might wanna go closer to the ladder. Also, if your paranoid about putting on fat, or if you easily put it on, throw a few days of morning cardio in the mix. Good luck with the natty gains!!
