    Trans fat, or saturated fat??

    What is the difference??

    saturated fats are naturally saturated, they are full with hydrogen atoms. A trans fat was unsaturated, but had hydrogen atoms added to make it solid at room temperature. hydrogenatation twists the the hydrogen atoms so that they are accross from each other on the chain.
    They are bad because in addition to raising LDL (both sat. and trans fat does this) trans fats also lower HDL. Since saturated fats are used in some body processes and trans fats have no known physiolgical role, it is advised to steer clear of the trans fats
