Its not advised to tan on Accutane (Isotretinoin) or any of the Tetracycline familly. Your skin is very sensitive to sunlight and more damage than good may be evident. Avoid exposure to sunlight when possible IMHO.
werd, i will heed your advice,
I'm using Accutane now and havent seen a sunbed for a few months now!Originally Posted by hardgainer1

Dont tan on accutane! Your skin is much more sensitive to light. If you do , you risj acne scars. I was on 40mg for 5 months and even being in the sun during the day, as injust bein outside all day made me really red. I woudl wait till you finish your accutane.
yeah tats what i was thinking, i never burn normally
anyone else?
My doctor put me on it, and at the time I was framing, so I was in the sun all day everyday. She said just be careful, cause I might burn more, and if I wanted to, to wear a sun screen. I think the warning is really for fair skinned people who are not exposed on a daily basis.Originally Posted by hardgainer1
awesome, Im hitting the tanning booth then, my skin looks arabic, ill be fine, just need to dry out some of the remaining nonsense on my back. BITCHES! I think i lost weight while on accutane by the way
couple lbs
20mg/day is a pretty low dosage. I would THINK you would be fine for tanning but I don't know your skintype and whatnot...
Just work into it slowly and see how it goes
Dermatologists openly tell patients NOT to tan and stay out of the sun when possible when using Isotretinoin. They also suggest you use a sun screen/cream if you do spend a few hours in the hot sun. This is evident in the posts above.Originally Posted by hardgainer1
You now want to use a sunbed which, IMO, can lead to many skin issues anyway. Knowing your MORE prone to sunburn, no matter what your skin type and going ahead and tanning is stupid IMO.
Use a cream/gel to combat acne/spots, not a sunbed when using this treatment IMHO.
Very good advice. I can't tell people this enough. The short-term coverup does havoc to your skin and body in the long-term.Originally Posted by Swifto
I tanned heavily while on it, i was just eager to do anything to help my skin immediately, but if the docs advise against than i would hold off...i now have scarring lol
I would look into a cream/gel as Swifto suggested before its too late. Those acne scars really suck. I know. Check out the link in my profile.
