    Nizoral 2% for Back Acne?

I was told to use this. Just wondering if anybody knows if it works and is worth it?

Also, do i need to follow a certain step by step thing when using this?

Yes it does work, just wash your back with it. It will dry the skin out a bit but the acne will be long gone.

Only took me a few days to see results....I used an acne wash first, over the counter with salycilic acid....just to get it really clean. Also buy a good brush to get your whole back....scrub well and let it sit for a few minutes before you rinse it off....dermatologist recommended that to me. Stuff definitley works man. use it whenever u shower or at least ater the gym.

I would be very surprised if it does in fact work.

NIZORAL® (ketoconazole) 2% Cream contains the broad-spectrum synthetic antifungal agent, ketoconazole 2%. Ketoconazole is a broad spectrum synthetic antifungal agent which inhibits the in vitro growth of the various dermatophytes and yeasts by altering the permeability of the cell membranes.

From a medical standpoint, the immediate causes of acne have been known for over 40 years. Acne develops as a result of the following four processes: 1) blockage of the pore 2) too much skin oil 3) bacterial colonization and 4) inflammation.

One of the problems we run into (bodybuilders, athletes, fitness enthuists, and the like is certain elements (mainly diet and anabolic steroids) causes a hormonal cascade and produce a net pro-inflammatory state that consequently results in acne on the face and back. Obviousily avoiding anabolic steroids is the first place to start for clear skin. Beyond ommitting steroids, the sebaceous gland sometimes produce (due to certain elements such as diet) too much oil, setting up the ideal environment for bacterial colonization. Once the tiny zit is formed, shutting off the follicle with its sebum rich envirnoment to the outside air, the bacteria can thrive inside the microcomedo. Then cetain substances found within the cells walls of the colonizing bacterium stimulate the immune system to produce localized pro-inflammatory hormones called cytokines. This is what we know all too well as a big red ugly-looking ZIT!

So this bacterium is what we're essentially going after to protect your skin from those notorious breakouts. Therefore, an antifungal cream such as Nizoral 2% may only fight half the battle. That's where you need an antibacterial cream to take care of the rest (the aggressive half!). Without recommending any names here, I'd highly suggest for you to check out the link in my profile. I would never steer people in the wrong direction when it comes to you're body, and (mental and physical) well-being. Especially members of the AR community who I have great respect for.

But for those who found success using nizoral 2% for back acne, I'd say all the better. Just like to know who those people were, if any.
