    tuna steaks

hey guys I just picked up a bunch of tuna steaks from the grocery store because they were on sale.....the package they come in says 26 grms of protein for 3 ounces...I dont have a scale yet, but the tuna steaks are about 1 1/4 inches thick, and about 4 inches long in a triangle shape.....do u think that is over 3 ounces? I need to know how many to eat at a time until I get that damn scale...thanks guys i really need some thoughts

Usually an average sized tuna steak is 4-6 oz.

Are you talking about the pre cooked packaged starkist tuna steaks or some fresh steaks? The starkist are probably around 3-4 but anything fresh are most likely 4-6oz like bigsd said.

4-6 ounces then. I love some good tuna steaks. I would thaw them out, season and just sear each side for 2-3 minutes. Nice medium rare tuna steak is this shibby.

Since you already made it, I'm not much help. But, searing is in a pan on high heat with little to no oil. I use non stick spray to replace the oil and sear each side for a few minutes.

I am eating another one tonight because I bought a crap load of them. I cooked one in a frying pan last night on high flame, outsides cooked nice but the inside was red and cold....maybe a lower flame will help so I can cook it longer heating up the inside
