    Please help

Sorry I did not know where else to post this. Since I was 15 I have been heavy into training. This past june I was given an mri for my back and the results were bad. Degenerative disks and 2 hernations as well as severe spinal stenosis. I stoped working out all together cardio and weight training. I started taking perks that were given to me on a consistant basis. Took them for a long time and got very addicted. 9 days ago, I quit them on my own, and went through very bad withdrawal. Now for the past 5 days or so I have had the worst anxiety you can imagine. I have always had anxiety but I had it under control when I worked out or when I took the percs. Do you think because I stoped both that my body is reacting to the anxiety in an extreme way? The past 4 days I have also develped what feels like a lump in my throat that comes on in the afternoon and stays with me all day till i sleep. I wake up and it is not there but around the afternoon it comes back. Can someone please help, I know there are many doctors and very educated people on this forum that can help me. Thank you

Okay, Kid81, first of all do everything you can to stay off the pain meds. I think for awhile at least you need to focus on getting both of your feet back on the ground. I too have a bad back from military injuries and had two disks removed and my spine held together with bone grafts and titanium fittings, but I still work out, just lightly on my back. Stay off all unnecessary meds and steroids until you can sit down and talk about what you are going through with someone you trust and respect and try to seek medical help. There is nothing wrong with that. Lots of people suffer, or have suffered from aniety and some of it extreme, myself included and my oldest son. There is very good medication for anxiety that won't interfere with working out and eventually getting on a cycle, however, before you can do that you've got to give your body and system a chance to normalize. No doubt what you are experiencing has a great deal to do with too many pain meds and maybe could explain your anxiety as well. Talk to someone you trust and see a doc, you'll be better off for it and you'll be fine. Good luck Bro.

I had some bad stuff in the past from drugs etc. Anxiety is a bitch. I held it in any didnt seek help. Hind sight is 20/20 I can honsetly tell ya now that I wish I did seek out help. Take the time to rehab and stay off the meds. Time heals all wounds. Gets help though. You know you are not the 1st through this kind of thing, so get the help from peeps that have already been there and fought their way out of it.

Listen to the advice Kid81. I told you I'd had badass anxiety and I had no one to confide in and didn't seek medical help. Tons of people have varying degrees of anxiety and it is no different than getting treatment for a bad tooth -- they both need medical attention. Before one of my back surgeries a doctor guessed it and I admitted it and he gave me some medication that kicked its ass. If only I'd of talked to a doctor years before. I'm guessing that your pain meds had a big part with your anxiety now and lumps in the throat are a sign of anxiety.
