    HDTV question

Just wondering how many of you HD guys out there have an HDMI cable? Guys at Best Buy/Circuit City sware that your HD picture wont look good unless you have an HDMI cable running from your box to your tv instead of just running the cable line into the tv. Is the difference with the HDMI cable really that much of a difference or will it not make much of a difference to the average person?

it wont make that much of a difference unless you are a videophile. i run a HDMI but i am a nut for this stuff, if you want ask them at the store to hook up a hd display and show you the difference between the HDMI and componet cables. its your money make them earn it.

Depends on your source more than anything. Crappy signal is crappy signal from start to finish regardless of how good of cables you buy. Can you tell the difference between HDMI and component? Depends, how good is the video source. Is HDMI better? Yes, it actually is. Is it going to MAKE A DIFFERENCE? Nope, probably not, unless you have some really high end goodies. Also see if you intend to transfer audio signals to a theatre system. If so, HDMI eliminates the need for extra cables because you can do BOTH audio and video thru one HDMI cable.

    My vote:

Buy HDMI if you get a good deal or are going 1080P, which then you have to. Otherwise, buy Component Video or shop on Ebay for HDMI.

    X2

Component is fine for most things and even at 480-720p I'd still stick with components. If you are planning on going to 1080p then go with the HDMI cables.

I have my Panny 42" running through an HDMI. The picture looks great but I haven't tried any other cables so I can't compare. If you want to buy one get one from monoprice.com they're cheap as hell and the quality is great. You don't need that Monster Cable crap.
