How do you save you-tube video's to hard drive

Just wondering how to save you-tube video to hard drive.

I'm trying to figure this out myself, not sure if it is possible, whether you need a program to do it or not.

I know that sometimes, (generally) when watching a movie clip online, such as YOU TUBE, your own computer downloads the complete clip onto the temporary directory of your hard drive (under Explorer), and then lets you view it in the browser. So I assume you might be able to find the files somewhere in the Temporary Internet Files.

But I have been unsuccessful myself thus far.
