    Impatient

I'm 19 and have been lifting for a while. I've been making great gains and still am, but they are starting to slow down. I want to compete in bodybuilding and am curious at what age is it recommended to start taking gear. I've wanted to start since I was 17 but decided to put it off until I was 21. I know 19 years old is frowned upon by many of the board members to start, but will this 2 year wait be worth it? At then end of this month I am getting my blood tested to make sure my testosterone levels are average or higher. Any feedback for my thoughts is appreciated, and keep smartass comments to yourself.

BTW, I will be posting pictures soon for feedback.

Wait as long as possible. I would say that 21 is the bare minimum.

It's cool your checking into it and going to wait. Good decision, I wish I had the common sense at 19. You should have a good testosterone level at your age but I have read in Muscle & Fitness that zinc helps boost your levels. It's cheap. Good luck.

Well if your still making great gains naturally you have no need of steroids yet. 21 is ok to start. IMO 23+ is better.

i think abusing AAS like most here do just take huge qauntities is really too much pressure for you in the long and short term of sides if u get any. I can say i dont get anything classified as serious sides just a few pimples and abit of rage but i'm 18 and i am not regreting it 1 bit. i feel 18 should be minimum to start but i started because i felt i was finishing growing as long as your happy with that and my gains were at a edge getting harder to push but i made farely good gains naturaly.

I don't think most people here abuse steroids. People here are trying to help out people and keep them as safe as possible. If people were promoting abuse of steroids, I would see recommendations of 3g's a week of test for a beginner. Most of the recommendations are to wait and research.

that's exactly right. nearly every newbie is told to research some more and wait till they are older and do a light dose. i call that USE of steroids. not ABUSE. marty mcfly is right, you don't see people advising to take 3 grams a week to someone who knows nothing. that is abuse

Thanks for all of the input, so the general advice is to wait till I'm a bit older yet. Out of curiousity, what is the major reason by waiting from 19 to 21. It can't be natural test levels because they should be relatively similar, so it's not like I'll need more test. The main reason to put it off from my knowledge is stunted growth. Is that correct. I've been acused of taking steroids from many of my friends and some family, but that does not bother me at all, in fact I take it as a compliment. I've started out very skinny at 120 pounds and am at 160 pounds. I just want to keep growing and want to weigh in the 200-250 pound range and also would like to compete in bodybuilding.

160 is too small most likely. How tall are you.

To be honest i started out when i was 19, now 23 i have 4 cycles under my belt. I did have a good base to start with weighing around 185-190 at age 19,

i did however have the useful tools and knowledge of my many bros and relatives(my dad) that i knew to guide me and educate me on proper usage of not only AAS, but BB as a whole.

I was educated on how to properly run a cycle and make optimal gains from one, i was educated on a variety of subjects, strict diet, solid training, and adequete rest, are 3 that come to mind and were preached to me on more than one occasion.

and i soon realized that it would be a lifestyle change. I knew i had to spend friday/ saturday nights at the gym when other bros were going out partying it up.

IMO most bros who are young, are advised to hold off, simply because they dont have the proper knowledge, dedication, and understanding of what it takes to properly run a cycle, and make optimal gains from one.

So your saying that if I am educated enough, at 19 years old I am ready?

No. You will do what you want with the advice to wait. That being said, I started at 20, so I am not going to rip you for your choice.
    Just be smart!
