    Kung Pao chicken

I just made my own kung poa chicken and was wondering if it was bad to eat. The kung pao sauce was made by using 1/2 cup water, tablespoon of lite soy sauce, 2 packets of sweet-n-lo, and the kung pao seasoning (about 80 cal and 600 g of sodium, but nothing else). I cooked the chicken in a pan with non fat -non stick spray and added about a cup of salted peanuts as well. After it was cooked I put the chicken on top of a bag of cooked brown rice. It was tasty. Almost too tasty to be healthy. For a while now I was just grilling chicken and topping it off with hot sauce or salsa. Im starting to get alittle tired of that so I have been buying certain seasonings at the store to mix my chicken. So far so good as taste goes, but im worried if this is going to start killing my diet. Your thoughts?

Im a little confused about your question. A lot of people on this forum state they use splenda, which I would assume is chemically identical (or close to) sweet N low. Natural sugar causes fat and I would rather use an artificial sweetner then the real stuff. In addition, a lot of the "dangers" of the artificial sweetners seems to be outlandish. I dont think using 2 packets a day is going to do anything to me. And FYI. If you drink any form of diet soda, you are also ingesting splenda.

try to sub honney for sweet and lo. or u can use a mix of ketchup and light milk. also the seasoning contains alot of sodium for one meal..have u considered trying to make it from scratch..this would give u a lil more input on sodium amount and whatnot.

I thought sodium isnt that bad for you in regards to bulking up? I know it will bloat you up, but a simple variation in the diet or less use of seasoning should aid in fighting that.

Also, what do you mean from scratch? I tend to buy a variety of individual seasonings and throw whatever on the chicken for taste. For example, I might mix together: cumins, black pepper, chayanne pepper, cajuin seasoning, etc... Typically, I would throw 3 to 4 different types of seasoning together and put it on my chicken. Is this better then the packages of seasoning I buy?

BTW, how does kethup and milk taste together? It doesnt sound to appetizing.

youre probably right...i was just with a bunch of people who were very anti sweetn low but i doubt its any worse than the other sugar substitutes...which i dont know if are better than real sugar.
