How long does it take the body to adjust to diet?

Did some searching around and didnt come up with much. About how long would it take ones body to adjust to a strict diet? I have been following one for about 2 weeks and have seen basicly no change in weight/body fat/mirror reflection.

Just curious before i start to mess with my macros...

forgot to mention the diet is for cutting..dont know if it makes a difference, but i read somewhere that it may take some time for the body to adjust, just wanting to see about how long that should take, or if i misjudged my needs and need to add/subtract cals

What exactly do you mean by adjust? As in seeing results I presume? If so I give it around 10-14 days to start seeing results. I just becareful not to make drastic changes. I re-evaluate what was done in the last 10-14 days and then cut slowly at the macros, then wait another 2 weeks and so on....

Yes, adjust as in seeing results. As i said, its been 15 days and i have seen basically 0 change in my weight/body fat/reflection. I just wanted to know if it was normal for it to take a little bit before my body got used to the calorie cutting, or if i cut them too drastically and my body is storing the fat i currently have. Which is another concern, if i go to adjust my diet, which way do i go? Up, or down? Hah..

No Id say 15 days is reasonable to revaluate and perhaps start readjusting it. Albeit , everyone is different. You have many variables you can alter, I would suggest carbs, Cals and finally calories utilized. Also, yes making drastic changes can be detrimental so do then gradually as needed

I would wait one more week,

IMO and also Chris Aceto's when starting to cut let your body acclimate 14days. Your body is now used to your new eating habbits.

In about 7 days you'll start to see changes, If your on track keep on doing the same till you plateau, If not then make adjustments and keep to the bare miniumum.

Also your scale will not keep an acurate bf% and shouldn't be used. the only way is

    1. your clothes and how they fit

    2. mirror

    3. another set of eyes.

The scale is going to do one thing and thats tell you how much you weigh, it wont take in the fact that water and glycogen can change drastically.

    Good luck

thanks for the reply man. i know the scales suck at giving an accurate body fat percent, basically i use it to see if the number is changing, not what the actual number is.

it also has a water percentage reading, but i doubt that is accurate as well, but same thing applies, i check that the number stays about the same, that way i know if the weight fluctuations are water or actual muscle/fat mass

When you cut calories, try cutting back on non-PWO carbs. It has helped me with some weight loss plateaus. Then again, I wouldn't think like that until you saw some results. If you've been doing your cardio, exercising, eating and sleeping right, you should see results. If not, try cutting it back 200 calories a day.
