WHY Carbs/Simple Sugars for PWO shake/Meal

I have searched a lot and see that everybody does this (i do as well) but could I get some info on the reasons for this? I will eat a couple of whole grain pieces of bread and my shake PWO

ON Whey I double that up so I get 42 g of protein
2 slices of bread ~35 g of carbs

is that enough for right after workout, maybe a banana or something like that?

Thanks guy, learned so much from you all

i like to do a 1.5 to 1 carb to protein ratio...but thats what ive found werked best for ME!

i guess the logic behind simple sugars is it spikes yer insulin better allowing for yer body to more effeciently shuttle nutrients to yer muskles

    BUT

at the same time ive found no diff between using simple/complex carbs PWO

i dont believe theres ever been a study that conclusively states simple carbs will yield better/more effecient results then complex for a PWO shake

when it comes to spiking insulin, carbs are carbs (unless we're talkin veggies which have MINIMAL impact on blood sugar--if ne at all)

i, like you, use bread pwo as well

my only tift w/ simple carbs (dex) is the TERRIBLE crash i got from it--not to mention the bread makes my tummy feel FULL

As a diabetic I can tell with certainty that there is a big difference between simple and complex carbs. If I eat rice, oatmeal or whole wheat bread all day long I do not require insulin to regulate my blood sugar as the carbs are released slowly enough for my pancreas to keep up with it, on the other hand if I drink 20 oz's of soda my bloog sugar will skyrocket and I need the insulin to bring it back down to a comfortable level. Carbs aren't just carbs.

im not familiar w/ the whole diabetic side of life...srry

but in all honesty like i said b4, i CANNOT tell a diff between using simple/complex carbs pwo in terms of results--but obv, like u said, when sumones a diabetic its COMPLETELY different!

    good lord im retarded

    in all that blabbering

    i was trying to say...
a greater spike in insulin (caused from simple sugars like u mentioned fr8lnr ) doesnt necessarily YIELD better results

ne spike in insulin (regardless from simple/complex) is enuf to get the 'shuttling' of nutrients process goin
