6 NYPD cops investigated for steroids

(New York - WABC, October 16, 2007) - Six of New York's finest are being investigated for the improper use of prescriptions to obtain anabolic steroids for personal use, this according to the NYPD.

Paul Browne, an NYPD spokesman, says the police officers, who were not named, were suspected of using steroids for body building.

The officers may face disciplinary action by the NYPD, but Browne does not anticipate that they will be arrested.

A pharmacist connected to the probe has been arrested. Browne says the case stems in part from a state health department investigation into the over-prescribing of steroids.

He says television reports that nearly three dozen officers faced arrest in connection with a steroid ring were "wildly distorted and exaggerated."

This is bullshit! They arrest and prosecute anyone else for steroid use but they won't prosecute cops.

I live in NY myself. Last weekend for a bullshit reason, I was in central booking in Queens for a night, and let me tell you, there was like 2 juiced up cops and at least one juiced up corrections officer!!! I cant really blame them, but its unfair when they can do what ever they want.

Here in Hawaii we have alot of illegal cockfighting, and guess what! alot of the LE are friends with some if these people that host these games. Most times the fights are scheduled to occur at a a specific times or place but when the word goes around that a raid will occur guess how the fighters find out? thats right informants within the LE system was nice enought to tell his fellow gambling buddies about whats about to go down. Now if more LE gets involved using AS then i dont think that there would have been as many busts. I think the NYPD dudes were just as dissapointed about the raids as we where. You think that they like the fact that most of thier sources are are now behind bars? C,mon now they are just doing their job! I for one would like to see more LE taking this shit that way it keeps us safe and our sources safe! just my opinion........
