Mississippi would make it illegal for restaurants to serve the obese...

FEBRUARY 1--Mississippi legislators this week introduced a bill that would make it illegal for state-licensed restaurants to serve obese patrons. Bill No. 282, a copy of which you'll find below, is the brainchild of three members of the state's House of Representatives, Republicans W. T. Mayhall, Jr. and John Read, and Democrat Bobby Shows. The bill, which is likely dead on arrival, proposes that the state's Department of Health establish weight criteria after consultation with Mississippi's Council on Obesity. It does not detail what penalties an eatery would face if its grub was served to someone with an excessive body mass index.

Kewl, all we need next is a law to make restaurants offer something healthy on their menus.

RK, agree with you in principle, but in the UK we have public provided healthcare being crippled by obesity.

Makes me sick when I know fit non-smoking people who have to wait for a bed when they get struck ill when you see many taken up by people with (indirectly) self-inflicted injuries.

Ya I've been reading about the problem... they should institute some sort of monitoring process where people who become over weight get on a period of probation to reduce their weight or cut them off from health care and charge them directly..... I dont give a **** if you make a decision to kill yourself and strain a great system you deserve to pay for your drag....It makes me sick seeing people who could prevent it being 40 or 50% bodyfat...

Yup, for the replusion/shock factor there have been some programs on this on the telly recently. I remember struggling to stay afloat in a sea of hatred with one guy who was receiveing disability benefits as well and was 45 stone (600lbs+). One of the fattest men in the UK and receiving constant healthcare on one hand and also on benefits on the other. Thinking about it now is making my adrenaline flow. I'm sorry to have to say somehing like this, but I do genuinely hate them. I almost ashamed to admit it, but it does make me want to get rid of them. They are literally making the choice with every mouthful to eat themselves to death. How can anyone defend this behaviour? I honestly believe it should be made a crime to burden society in this manner. If they want to do it fine (well it's not really fine but I'd live with it), but they should finance it themselves.
