    50% dextrose/50% maltodextrin shakes

    Can someone just verify how important and worthwhile it is to drink your post workout shake with 1/1/1 protein/maltodextrin/dextrose? I just started with this and the corn sweetener is disgustin'

    Is the point to spike your blood glucose levels? Why couldnt you just drink a buncha OJ or something?

    It seems there are conflicting opinions about whole foods vs shakes. Whey for PWO is universally accepted but the simple carb choice is up for debate.

    The only problem here is that these juices contain fructose which doesn't spike insulin as high as dextrose does.

    There's no hard and fast rules for carbs PWO... it's whatever floats your boat

    the more carb sensitive amongst us can opt smaller amount of dextrose... it also depends on your goals... people who are carb senstitive or have insulin issues may even opt for oats while cutting...

    Is there any difference between glucose and dextrose, is dextrose more concentrated form, for example. I want to use dextrose in my PW protein drink but can only get glucose-d (with vit d) Any suggestions?

    Also, what amount is good, I've heard 80 mg in teh protein shake but this would be at least 10 tablespoons of glucose

    because old school guys used it, so its tried and true. but you can receive a similar insulin response with any carbohydrate. all personal opinion, and unless you are using exogenous substances, then it really doesn't matter.

    if by exogenous u mean 'roids then yeah, thats what I'm preparing my diet for currently.

    Since I got your attention novastepp I'm just gonna hijack my own thread and post my diet and see what you think since yer one of the authorities

    I think its pretty standard but maybe need to squeeze another meal in there somewhere..
    any feedback appreciated

    This will be my first cycle sus 300(not my first choice but only thing available)@450mg a week (225mg every 3.5 days) for 10-12 weeks followed by nolva/clomid/ldex PCT(may drop the clomid, I'm not sure yet, worried about the vision sides as I already have poor vision)

    height: 6ft
    weight: 190
    BF: 12%
    age: 28 yrs

    daily vitamins: C, E, zinc, folic acid, beta-carotene, glutamine before w/o

    meal 1: protein (chicken breast or egg whites), carbs (oats, rice/beans or rice cakes)

    2: protein (tuna w/ whole mayo), whey, veggies (broc or carrots), fish oil

    3: protein (tuna or chicken breast), carb (rice/black bean combo), glutamine

    W/O

    PWO 40g whey/80 dextrose/maltodextrin

    4: protein (tuna/steak/chicken breast), veggies

    5: natural peanut butter (w/ flax seed oil), fat free cottage cheese, celery/carrots


    also been drinking gallon + water a day. I add crystal light because it makes me drink more but I'm uneasy about all the aspartame.

    i think the main reasons people would choose dex/malto over a different carb source such as a fruit juice is the price and convenience. dex/malto is like $2 or so a pound, and its so easy to just toss some powder in a shaker, add water after the gym, then drink it down together with the protein.

    i was referring to insulin. but why not go with the test-e that many use for a first cycle? no reason to rush into a cycle. as far as the diet goes, you need to add in the calories and macros for each meal as well as totals for the day. and in regard to the aspartame, i posted in a thread about a month ago about a study that showed aspartame doesn't cause cancer or any of that.

    no access to anything but the Sus 300, decca, dbol. any opinion on vitamins I selected?
