    Tea

What are the thoughts on drinking obscene amounts of tea while cutting?

I drink about 20 cups of Jasmine tea a day. I carry it around in a thermos when I'm on the road and when I am at home I am constantly making pots.

I plan to start a cutting naturally soon and want to know if there are any pros/cons to drinking so much tea.

I can tell you that I piss about the double the amount of cups I drink! I love the stuff I cant stop.

Wouldn't you count the tea as water? If I drink 1 gallon of tea every day, would I need to still drink the recomended amount of water as well?

I did that at one point and I noticed urinary problems from the acidity or whatever... I was drinking like 3/4 gallon of tea and 1/4 gallon of water.... I would flush my system with atleast as much water as tea that your drinking...

I found a few references to sucraloses lack of impact of insulin secretion but nothing conclusive.... I avoid artificial sweeteners but I dont believe it will hinder weight loss in moderation...

Drink as much tea as you would like but do not replace that with your water intake. Tea will dehydrate you and give you problems that come along with dehydration.

tea is a diretic so you need to drink 1 extra cup of water for every cup of tea you drink, you cannot sub your daily intake of water for tea

I am a g/damn tea junkie. Its really bad. Cold tea, hot tea, lipton tea, pekote tea, damiana tea (my favorite) , kratom tea, etc.

I have been trying to control my tea habit however because I'm chronoinsomniac with high BP (most likely from the tea) my doc doesn't like it.

So I've cut down a lot BUT my tip is this:

And its NOT for everyone. But STEVIA. **Good** stevia. It has a slight after taste but its 200-300 times sweeter than sugar, its GOOD for you (research it) and it may take acquiring a taste for, but I LOVE this crap.
No calories but you have to learn how to dose it right because its VERY easy to overdo it.

I never drink diet or artificial sugars because of the whole formic acid poisoning thing from (asparatme I think it was - could be wrong, w/e sugar they banned) I just don't trust them.
But try out stevia, its good stuff, can be found on ebay.

I think you mean EGCG: epigallocatechin-3-gallate

Anyway...Tea in general 'enhance' the metabolism.

Yes.. Black tea, green tea, white tea, red/oolong tea...all 'enhance' the metabolism.

Polyphenols + caffeine = faster metabolism.

    Tea = Polyphenols + caffeine.

I drink a lot of tea... and also a lot of cocoa and coffee.

Each of which has potential implication for use in weight-control.

...both black and green teas contain EGCG by the way.

The concentration of EGCG differs...but both black and green teas come from the same plant.

Green tea has more EGCG... but Black tea also has other phenols of note.

Each tea has its benefits... and should each be included, as opposed to consuming only one.

    Personally I like variety.

That is after all, a precept of the bodybuilding lifestyle.

Shit man that is a lot of info! I work in a office with a lot of Chinese people...they got me hooked on the stuff. Telling me the history of tea and what not. I drink a lot of Pearl Jasmine and Oolong with Ginsing. Oolong is kinda cool cause it has a bitter taste then a sweet after taste.

Funny that tea makes me piss wayyy more than coffee. I'll start adding more water through out the day.

    Thanks for the info guys.

tea is awesome. I drink it everyday. I prefer oolong, but any black tea i enjoy. Never had white, but green is good too. IF i choose to sweeten, i use honey. Some herbal teas are cool too. But i guess this stuff is just way good for you (antioxidants) so why not drink it. It also gives me a little boost.

    Agreed.

In addition to various 'true teas'...I make 'teas' from a lot of different herbs.

These'd technically be called 'infusions'.. but what the hey.

In Barbados, we call 'em all tea.

    Boiled Ginger Root.

    Yohimbe Bark.

    Dandelion Root.

    Mexican Wild Yam.

    Bay Leaves.

    Cercei.

    Mauby Bark.

    Senna (very sparingly lol)

    etc. etc.

I enjoy a range of different 'teas'... Each of which supply their own health benefit... or unique taste.

Additionally, cocoa is a mainstay in my diet... especially when I'm dieting.

That, IMO, is a dieting essential.

Coffee also supplies antioxidants...and i love the stuff. (Chugging a cuppa now )

Not a fan of stevia or honey. (I don't like stevia's aftertaste or cost. I don't like the amount of honey i need to use to get a 'sweet' taste. I also don't like the taste of honey.)

    However, stevia's a God-send for some people...especially the diabetic,

    Splenda's my poison of choice.

Hopefully by the time research gets published which shows that it is 'bad', I will've switched to something else lol.
