Why should you cut out the Egg Yolk in your Eggs?

Not really sure if thats how you spell Yolk but thats beside the point haha.

Ive learnd to love eggs sense I came to this website and the more diets I read the more I see Egg Whites instead of full Eggs.

Just curious whats so bad about the egg yolk. I eat 6 eggs in the morning and 3 before bed now so I should probly switch to egg whites but I just want to understand why first.

The fat in an egg is found in the yolk. 9 whole eggs a day is a lot of fat saturated fat dude. An average sized egg is 50 grams and contains 5 grams of fat, you do the math.

Thats all I needed, especially sense im up to 12 eggs a day haha. Egg whites here I come. Thanks Dicknang.

20 bucks says I get frusterated tomarrow morning trying to seperate the yolk from the egg whites before I cook it haha. Ill buy strait egg whites after I finish up this batch of eggs.

No problem Average. I think in the US it is possible to buy egg whites in a bottle. Can't get that in Australia so I'm stuck with separating the whites from the yolk. It is also possible to buy powdered egg whites.

And Btw, you needn't throw all your yolks away, maybe have 1 whole egg per egg meal. It will contribute modestly to your daily fat consumption, and also the body does actually need a very small amount of saturated fats.

you can pass the egg back and forth in the shell, that makes it easier.

Yes you should monitor your cholesterol if your family has problems or if you yourself have problems with it. However more than 50% of cholesterol problems are genetic, so dietary control isn't effective treatment.

Also, majority of the protein and essential vitamins are located in the yolk, along with healthy fats. don't toss them all. use a 4 white 1 yolk ratio, or a similar approach. The protein in egg whites and YES the yolks is some of the finest and most bioavailable you will find.

I buy both egg whit containers and real eggs. I do not care what the cartons say...real egg whites cook and taste better.

I usally use a 4/1 ratio of egg whites to whole eggs

If you are not use to taking out the yolks, then pure egg whites are going to taste pretty bad. I would do what damiongage does, as well as myself, by eating one yolk per 4 eggs.

I wouldnt worry about dietary cholesterol. Sure its not good to eat a lot of it. But it contributes probably 10% to overall cholesterol levels in the body. The rest is due to genetics and other eating habits. You are more likely to ruin cholesterol by eating a lot of fats from saturated or trans sources than you are by eating cholesterol itself.

What he said. The problem is the fat, not the dietary cholesterol, but a diet high in saturated fat can lead to high bad cholesterol, so I guess in a way it does come down to cholesterol. However, you shouldnt completely eliminate yolks, 1 or 2 a day wont kill ya.
