White House Lists Polar Bears as 'Threatened'

The Bush administration announces on Wednesday that the polar bear will be protected as a threatened species because of the decline in Arctic sea ice from global warming. It's the first time that the Endangered Species Act has been used to protect a species threatened by the impact of climate change.

    This is absolutely crazy!

The facts, The polar bear "already is the most protected (animal) in the world and needs no additional protection," The number of polar bears have more than doubled since the late 1960s from 12,000 to about 25,000 across the Arctic region from Alaska to Greenland. The only peer reviewed scientific study published about polar bears population shows no signs of a decline and actually shows an increases in population!!!

They are using/abusing the Endangered Species Act to force global warming and CO2 emmisions on the US. If you are against it then you want to kill the ever sooo cute polar bears you mean hate monger!!!

Hey, maybe now we can sue Arseholes like Al Gore for emmitting so much CO2 and killing the bears off why not?

The research quoted came from a marketing professor.
    What a coincidence.

Just as the Alaska State Legislature allocates $2 million for a conference promoting climate change deniers' "expert" analysis of why polar bears aren't really endangered, a poster boy for polar bear junk science emerges from the woodwork.

Enter J. Scott Armstrong, who is a marketing professor at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. His research emphasizes forecasting methods, which he has used as the cornerstone for - you guessed it - claims that the IPCC climate change projections are actually all wrong.

Now he's extended his "forecasts" to say that polar bears are doing just fine. He alluded to his research when Sen. James Inhofe called him as an "expert" to testify before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee regarding the proposed endangered status of the polar bear.

Professor Scott Armstrong, Green and Soon paper “Polar Bear Population Forecasts” has been accepted for publication in Interfaces. This is the only peer-reviewed paper on the topic that has been accepted for journal publication. The paper shows that there is no basis for a forecast that polar bear numbers will decline. If there is any change, one might expect a modest short-term upward trend.

He's a professor, yes, I didn't realize that was a tarnish to ones reputation perhaps "former VP" title is more appropriate to be called an expert?
