I keep seeing alot of posts on what size pin to use and where. This thread will be boring to some but should be helpfull to others.
Diameter, I've used 18ga. -- 25gauge. The difference is how easily the oil-based product goes in and out of the syringe. Either way you get the same result (unless of course your squezzing the plunger so hard that your thumb slips and you break the pin off). Another diff. here is scar tissue may build quicker with a larger diameter. This isn't a concern for most people however because they get burnt out from lifting and don't do continued use. Another pittfall of a larger pin is if you have say 50ml or higher vials they will wear the rubber stopper out quicker. I prefer a 21g. on almost everything because it only takes me about 30 sec. to load and shoot. Its even easier to aspirate. Nevertheless, when using oils don't go over 25g. unless you have an hour or two to do your shot.
Length, I've used 1inch-2.5inch. Ok no-one can tell you what length pin to use where. Here's what you do. Grab the skin from your muscle, like your pinching yourself. You should be able to feel the skin and fat pinching in your hand. See how thick that is between your fingers, your skin and fat is 1/2 that. Now add another 1/2inch to 3/4 inch depending on how much your injecting. If you follow this starting out you should be golden. Also if your having a problem hitting inside viens then your not going deep enough. Viens do not reside inside or underneath muscle. You prob. won't be able to pinch your glute and use this technique. Unless your very low BF always use 1.5 on your glute. I use 1.5's everywhere so I don't have to pick up extra 100 count boxes, Just don't go as deep.
A couple more notes.............
Always pin at a straight 90 degree angle from the site.
its easier to break the skin if you change pins after loading.
never let your pin touch anything but the sterilized skin and rubber.
do not hit the same inject site for at least 5 days for short esters and 10 long
