When I was younger I used wrestling shoes but now I just use my North Face trail runners. The give me the support I need, but then again I am not competing in powerlifting.

Squating - chuck taylors or any shoe that has a flat sole

deadlift, wrestling shoes, slippers or just the socks, the lower you get to the ground the better

    press, regular sneakers are fine

Are there any Otomix shoes, you could recommend for squatting??
What about Inzer Pillar squat shoes?
Can you post some links, where to buy good SQ and DL shoes?
    Thx

    Shoes

I have been powerlifting for several years now and I like wearing wrestling shoes but recently i purchased a shoe called the "Universal Boot" it expensive ($135) but it gives great support where you need it when your squatting and deadlifting. It's made in two parts. the outside is just the actual leather boot but on the inside there is a built in ankle brace for added support. overall it's a great shoe.

If you were ever to wear those shoes to a contest I have this feeling you would probably never hear the end of it...

I gotta say I like the confidence... but dont you think if they were that great you would see top contenders wearing them already. It just isn't going to happen. Chuck Taylors, Wrestling shoes, deadlift slippers are the way to go. For an all around shoe I prefer Chuck's. But hey if you want to get a good laugh I would go ahead and go for it.

the safe shoes cost about a $120-140 plus. they are ugly as fcuk and heavy like a boot. you cant wear them anywhere else but to lift. even in the gym, they look slightly odd. my take. a pair of doc martin boots cost about $80-$100 bucks. they mold to your feet, last forever, have a heal, weight about the same as the safe shoes and you can where them anywhere. just my $.02.

the addidas are light, dont look that bad, but they are more pricey than the safe shoes. if i was real serious about single ply lifting or olympic lifting for a contest i would get them. if i never planned to compete, and was just going to train, i would go with the doc martins

what does the heel do exactly...does it convert some more weight to the quads? would this result in putting more pressure on the knees?
