Do you think my friend is on with these lifting increases?

We have worked out for 9 months almost 10 coming up. I have NEVER seen him get 315 on lockouts for more than 5-6 more than a hand full of times. Usually was like 3-4 for sets. Recently he has been getting it from 315x8 x 7 x8. No acne that I can tell but I think he would run HgH. I know this guy very well but he is the most competitive person I've ever run into and I wouldn't put it past him to run gear to keep some people from catching up.

Too many variables to know from that. going from 4 to 8 reps at 315 really isnt that crazy an increase.

I doubt he is...those seem like realistic increases in weights used. The mind is a very powerful tool.

um, going from 4 reps at 315 to 8 reps at 315 in two weeks is definately a crazy increase, are you kidding. most people would be lucky to gain that many reps "naturally" in a year.

You think? I seem to gain reps sometimes just by having my mind in a different place. Its like I get in the zone and my concentration is perfect. I can often do alot more reps out of no where even while not on the sauce but not usually new maxs while not on.

I just have a hard time believing it because it is max lock outs he's talking about with max weight on a compound movement. And he's getting them clean with better form. Its not like standing dumbell curls where you may be able to do a few more one day if you didnt work out your back earlier in the week or you are carbed up, or cheat and swing.

4 reps breaks down to roughly 90% of your 1 rep max which would mean two weeks ago his one rep max was 350lbs. 8 reps would roughly be 80% of his max which would mean his new max is in the ballpark of 395-400 lbs. I would say a projected 50lb increase in your max bench in 2 weeks is an unbelievable feat to accomplish even with anabolics.

doubt it. it could take his body's CNS 2 weeks to rperplt talk with the muscloskeletal system and now he's getting the lift properly.

if he's been at it hard, and he's eating right - you've been gone for 10 months, i see no reason he cant improve naturally.

he hasn't been gone for 10 months.... wow, he's up a whole FEW reps.... sounds like you're jealous...that's what ya get for stopping.

I think you miss read my post. I have worked out with him for almost 10 months. We lift at least 3 times a week together usually do chest/back/legs together and I do other training things by my self cause of scheduling.

I am jealous he can put up those numbers but I am making strong gains of my own.

As I said before I have NEVER seen him get more than 5 on his own for sets and now hes doing 7-8 solid reps out of the blue two weeks straight like its nothing. I've gone up in weight from changing my training and I think its possible he did also, but its just crazy to think he gets 4+ more reps per set without anything. 315 was his 'max' weight for the whole 9 months i've trained with him.

As someone else said mental health has a lot to do with it, I agree 100% on that. I find it hard to believe his head was out of the game for almost 10 months though! Maybe he sees me going from 30lb DBs to 95s last week and got scared I was gonna pass him He did 120s for the last 9 months and bumped it to 130s for 5-7 also. Hes 5'8 185lbs Strong ****er.
