i just bought one and my plan is to load all my cds on there and pics...but i cant figure out how to download itunes on to the external hard drive..when i go to instal it, it just goes to my laptop and not that...any ideas?

You can just put the music files on it and when you open them from any computer it will use that particular computers music player. You don't need iTunes on the actual external. Unless I don't get what you're saying?

you don't need to download anything to yr external hard drive it automatically kick in your itunes driver form drive c when u click on the song.samething with wma and rmp files.

You can take the songs from itunes but you may need a other program, they often have an id protector that prevents coping. you can get a program on line for this, search fairtunes, this is one of them

I tried to copy songs from it to a stick and it did not work, needed that extra program...

Rip them from the CD's to your internal hard drive then move them to the external.

You can save a little money and get something called an external hd enclosure. You put an internal hd in it and it becomes an external drive.
