    Low Testosterone Levels at 26.

Hey guys. I had a test done and my testosterone levels are at 160. I am 26 yrs old. I am really scared because I am afraid this will shorten my life and leave me at risk for cardiovascular disease. Can you guys give me some tips on how to raise my testosterone levels naturally. I am really afraid of using testosterone replacement therapy because I am way too young and the long term risks are very unknown. Anyone give me some good advice?

What did the doctor that did your lab testing say? He would be the best person to ask about that stuff.

My appointment to speak with them is on Monday. I got my results over the phone. One thing is, I woke up the night before my test at like 2 am without much sleep, went to a spin class at 5:30 am, and took the blood test at 10:30 am. Do you think this would have a huge effect on the results?

could have. The doctor will probably test you again to make sure it's accurate.

who does aerobics the morning of any type of testing?? Not a good practice by any means.

There are not really any long term risks with TRT. People have been on steroids (heavy cycles, not just test) for years and have not had any problems except their own test production shutting down lower sperm count etc.

But yes you should get that re-checked for sure.

i would get retested , the night before try to get all of the sleep you need and go as soon as you wake up or as soon as possible,

try not to get to stressed and down over this (it can effect the test as well) just stay positive and get retested then look in to bosters and ways to raise your levels and go from there, you could also try the gel for a month or so, and see how you feel , but i would get retested before i did anything

Thanks guys. I guess I will discuss getting retested with my doctor tomorrow.
Let's say I do end up getting TRT. I would make sure to get shots because I have heard bad things about gels and such.

If I do end up taking shots once every couple of weeks, do I need an anti-estrogen also? What else would I need to make sure everything is done safely? Also, what happens if my insurance one day decides they won't pay for it anymore? Will I be able to stop taking it and restart my own testosterone?

I am not sure if my doctor will refer me to an endocrinologist. So, if she recommends that she administer my shots and such, I am not sure I trust her completely... Especially since she is a female and probably doesn't deal with males often. Unfortunately my insurance is state insurance and I am stuck with her.

.....long term the shots are ideal or where for me anyway , but the gel did work it just got old applying it everyday because of my job , id probably start with the gel to see how TRT worked for me and how i felt as its easier to come off( half lifes and all) ..........

If I do end up taking shots once every couple of weeks, do I need an anti-estrogen also?

..............i would stress for weekly shots actually i would demand them every couple of weeks is no good you will be on a rollercoaster ride for sure,
the ai would depends on you, usualy if you do it would be adex at .25 every 3 days ( nothing extreme)......................

What else would I need to make sure everything is done safely?

..........read up on how to do injections if you dont already know and keep getting blood work done to see how your doing..........

Also, what happens if my insurance one day decides they won't pay for it anymore? Will I be able to stop taking it and restart my own testosterone?

..................then you either go in to a pct or you buy it its not that much if you figure it out ugl gear is 250mg/ml for 10cc's so if ya do the math at 100 mg's a week it will last a little over 6 months so thats not expensive if you are forced to go that route............................

I am not sure if my doctor will refer me to an endocrinologist.

.............maybe you should see one anyway another opnion wouldnt hurt and if your not sure about your doc why not?.................

So, if she recommends that she administer my shots and such, I am not sure I trust her completely... Especially since she is a female and probably doesn't deal with males often. Unfortunately my insurance is state insurance and I am stuck with her.

.................well she should be find giving injections as alot of drugs are given IM, but if its coverd try the endo route but it will be most likely more waiting for you,...........................

Thanks a lot Nalm, this is very helpful to me. One more question. Can the Doctor prescribe Adex to me? It is actually called Arimidex right? Is this a shot also?

yup your right its called arimidex, and i would assume they would prescribe it if you needed it,i cant say for sure hey will or do though,,,, if not there are other just as easy ways im sure

one more thing get copies of all your blood work done , it will make your life alot easier down the road and easier for people to help you on here aswell if you have more questions in the future,

from what i can gather you want your testosterone in the upper 1/3 of the normal range and your estrogen in the bottom 1/3 of the normal range , and having copies of your baseline , you have a good starting point , and some times you will have to speak up at the docs and this gives you some thing to aruge with if need be ( i had to about my estrogen before because it was 3 times what it use to be but still within the normal range and it was good i had my copies, to back how i felt ,otherwize it woulda been over looked)

some doctors are not as imformed as they should be when it comes to trt and at times they can be a hassle,

She went to the same medical school as male primary care physicians. Just because she is female doesn't mean she is ignorant on HRT.
