    Steroids and cutting cycles

I have a, probably, very stupid question regarding cutting and steroids, but will ask anyway...

What is the purpose of including ridiculously high dosages of stuff in a cutting cycle? Is it simply to maintain the muscle that is there? Is it that you can still gain muscle while running a deficit in calories?

The reason I am asking is that I think I understand running a 100mg to 200mg of test in cutting cycle to maintain, but don't get it when I see people running 700mg to 1000mg in cutting cycles.

Just trying to get educated here and would love to here comments...

    Thanks

100-200mg of test is barely over what your body produces naturally and wouldn't give you an edge at all imo.

Sphere, is the edge you are referring to building or maintaining the muscle you have?

Trying to understand the purpose of running cycle while cutting... In other words, why not run Clen and hit the diet and cardio hard?

I always hear that you cannot build muscle while below your maintenance calorie level, so why run gear if that is the case while cutting?

I am about to run a cutting cycle consisting of test prop 150mg EOD for 8 weeks. Last summer I had great success cutting naturally although I do feel like I lost some muscle and a lot of strength. My hopes for running this test cycle while in a calorie defecit is to preserve more muscle mass and strength as well. I do see what you are saying, to me it is pointless to be a calorie defecit and run really high doses of test (I don't consider 150mg EOD to be high).

actually the average adult male produces the equivalent of approximately 7mg of testosterone per day, so 100 to 200mg would be drastically greater than what is produced naturally.

In my experience many who are on what they consider cutting cycles are actually trying to reduce body fat while gaining lean mass, not just reduce bf. in my opinion cutting is more directly related to diet than anything else, but to try to cut while gaining is much more complicated and difficult than simply cutting or bulking.

Thanks for the reply BIG. This makes sense to me...

So, in your opinion, is it possible to gain muscle (most likely with some chemical help and good clean diet and training) while running at a deficit (caloricly speaking)?

This makes sense to me as well. So, for you, you are looking to maintain muscle and strength (reason for the cycle) while cutting fat. You are not expecting to gain any muscle or strength, correct? So, in overall weight, you expect to lose weight on this, right?

    Thanks!

it would be very, very difficult in my opinion. someone who knows much more than I do about diet could give us a better answer, it's nothing I would ever consider doing so I've never really looked into the possibilities.

Correct, possibily gaining a little muscle and strength would be nice. You are not expecting to gain any muscle or strength, correct? I would like to but it's not my main concern So, in overall weight, you expect to lose weight on this, right? My goal is to try to maintain weight while cutting fat, although this might be unrealistic. Losing around 10 lbs or so will not be a problem as long as I am retaining muscle mass.

    Thanks!
