    Exclamation Androgel on Doberman off

I was prescribed Androgel and Oxandrolone because after a car accident that permanently disabled me , the massive dose of Morphine I am on for life actually ate away at me. Between that and the depression of losing my livelihood at the age of 39, I lost 60 lbs in just over a month. I actually dropped below 100 lbs for a short while. It has been 5 yrs since my wreck, and I'm over the initial psychological trauma of it. The steroids have done their job, and I now weigh 150 lbs, I am going to the gym and working out to substitute for the construction work I used to do, and I'm building my body back up. The thing is, I live alone, and it is dangerous for me to be alone on all the narcotic I do. So, I have a Doberman trained as an alert dog to keep me from blacking out, and to summon 911 if I need help. This Androgel worries me, with Dana (my dog). I cannot find out what I should be watching for as far as symptoms of test exposure in female dogs. I am so scared that she will lick me too soon after my application some day, and knowing what to watch for would be so very helpful and relieving. Knowing what, if anything to do about it would help, also. If someone could help I would appreciate it. Thanks. Shaun and Dana

Welcome and its great to see you're doing well...Now I'm not syre what you're asking here...Is it that you want to know if you apply androgel how long before your dog can lick you??..If you're afraid of that make sure you're wearing something over where you put gel on....

Agreed, just make sure not to let the dog lick you where you applied it.

Actually I wanted to know the symptoms that a female dog would exhibit if she accidentally came in contact with me before it is absorbed. It's easy in the winter (in Chicago), because I can wear long sleeves, but soon it will be too warm to do that, not to mention that I have sculpted my upper body to the point that looking in the mirror at it gives ME wood, and I'm not about to hide it. I just wanted to know how she might act if she got exposed to the test. She could also contact it if I get a drop on the floor or something and don't notice it. That's another way she could get a hold of it that I worry about. Shaun Adams and Dana the Doberman service dog

If it's that much of a concern perhaps you could speak to you doc about switching to injections.

if she licked it it wouldnt be active. its not orally active. you would have to shave her fur and rub the gel on the exposed skin repeatedly for there to be a concern, which i dont foresee happening.
