When a friend wants to set you up with their daughter

How many of you has this happened to? I've had older friends do this three times that I can remember. I was extremely flattered at first. All three women turned out to be really dysfunctional with addiction issues.

I've cleaned up my life quite a bit in the last several years. I think because I quit partying and started working on growing up, I represent a positive influence for older friends that are exasperated with their young adult children who are out of control.

I still think it's a flattering gesture. I'm pretty sketchy about it now though. It's put a negative strain on the friendship in all three scenarios.

Its like working for a family friend, its always going to be akward. I personally would respectfully decline, and just site the reason you stated is it puts strain on your friendship with the family and you hold that in such high regard that you wouldnt want to risk it. Just my two cents anyway.

I say go for it, get out of your penis's way...you're cock blocking yourself.

I recently got set up with my brother's gf's best friend...it didn't work out, she doesn't hold any grudges and we slept together.

For all you know she might be Jesica Alba with a personality. At least go out with her. If you hit it and it doesn't work out, ask for forgiveness later, gawd. If she turns into a psyco and turns her dad against you, oh well, he's a dude...you didn't want to have sex with him anyway. Just let him know ahead of time "don't be pissed if it doesn't work out." If he still gets pissed then he's gay, cause he asked for it.
