Tendonitis usually clears up with 4-6 weeks of rest on the joints. Where is the pain exactly? Top of the forearm, inside the elbow itself? Depending on where the pain is located, it sould be something slightly more serious.
Docs can prescibe some strong anti-inflammatory's but they are harsh on the stomach and you can't stay on them forever.
see a chiro , you are looking for TENS treatment, helps a lot..

elbow pain does suck. you will be surprised what a chiropractor can do for you, sometimes you simply need to stretch the surrounding muscles to minimize the pressure on the joints and nerves. i had one few years ago and nothing worked, i went to the ER 3 times and they couldn't do shit, so finally when i saw my doctors he immediately said i have tennis elbow, so he gave me a shot (he said it was steroids, not cortisone) and the pain went away for good, but i did rest for few months after that. so like mentioned above, rest for few weeks and ice it often, if that doesn't help then see a doc.
Yep, my eldows hurt to.. Used to be around the forearm then it moved to around the not so funny bone. I take glucosamine hydronic acid bout 1500 mg each, then at dinner I take glucosamine and MSM at 500mg.. When I rest and elbows are touching sumthin like the bed or arm of chair my whole fore arm to hands go numb it sucks. I don't take ibuprofin for it unless its unbareable cuz I take enuf stuff already.
It sounds advanced Bigjoe. I would most definitely get it diagnosed. The Chiro is a good idea as well. For now, take some time off, (I know it sucks) and ice, ice, ice.
Good luck man!
i fought with elbow pain for a long time, even rested at one point for 3-4 months and it did not help much at all,if you have been having it over a couple weeks or so it will be tendonosis,i finally went to a chrio that provided ART and it worked wonders for me,it was painful the first few visits but after that more of a discomfort, i kept working out while was getting the ART done and now if i start having a little discomfort i do it on myself.
i went to a orthopedic about 2 months ago he said tendenitis, i wanted an mri but he said no need for one like usual i go to a dr the do some test and there is no pain lol!! I did chest today and didnt go heavy i put some tiger balm on before the work out and stretched good between sets they fell ok i think the bi workout is worse! I need to ice them more that seems to be the most advice i get.
Thanks alot guys
chiro wont really help. u need some physical therapy. eccentric stretches and work outs. i have horrible tennis elbow. have had it since july and the only thing that is starting to work is PT. try rubbing/massaging the area that hurts, it will help bring platelets and growth factors to the injured area. u want to break up the scar tissue that u have been building up. trust me i am 3 months into treatment and already 80%. it is killing my pocket book with physical therapy but this is the first time i can say that i am pain free since july
another thing you can do for biceps workout is to use ankle straps on your wrist, attach to cables and do your workout that way, this will take pressure off the muscles and tendons near your elbow, it worked for me really well, now the pain is completely gone and i can do normal biceps workout. if you like i can post a photo to show you what i mean...
This is actually untrue - tendinitis will not resolve without proper therapy. Tendinitis also has nothing to do with joints. It is the inflammation of the tendons which are connective tissue that connects muscle to bone which transmits force to the bone during a contraction.
From my own personal experience, I had tendinitis in both shoulders for a little over a year. Physical therapy helped. When I was younger I had tendinitis in my forearms which was crippling. I cured it with a small cycle of deca. Some doctors will offer a corticosteroid but I have read enough studies that has turned me off from the idea.
While I feel that physical therapy is beneficial - If your insurance (if you have it) does not cover it, it is something you can nurse on your own with a few simple exercises.
I agree you with 100% roadtorecovery...I had the same problem with my elbow, been like this for like 10 months...Been in physical therapy and that didnt help, so now they shooting me up with that steroid you mentioned 3x every 2 weeks...and after the injection my whole arm HURTS for days...but the injections does help...imo STOP lifting or lift LIGHT because I didnt do that at first and my injury became worst...the only way to cure it is either P.T or injections or surgery....good luck.
started PT today they said it is golfers elbow, they did some heat and ultrasound and showed me how to stretch it out and said ice after activity. im going back 2 x's a week.hope it clears up , when i woke up it felt way better than yesterday which was bad. thanks guys
Try stopping all tricep work for several months.
