    Puzzles, Riddles, Brainteasers

    (edit, July 21st, 2009.... go to post #16 unless you want to see older posts)

    Ok so the awareness test thread motivated me to make this thread. Post some cool Puzzles and Riddles. They're fun and challenging plus we're bored anyway if we're browsing forums lol.

    And please don't google the answers like we're some 13 year olds wanting acceptance that we're smart or wanting to make ourselves look good. Or if you're just curious to look it up cause its driving you crazy do so but don't post the answer if you got it by cheating.

    Anyway, I'll start......

    you have a 5 gallon bottle and a 3 gallon bottle ...... if you were asked to get 4 gallons of water exactly, how would you do it using these 2 bottles.

    OK, so you fill up the three gallon bottle to the top and pour it in to the five gallon bottle. You then fill the three gallon bottle once again and pour it in the five gallon bottle. Only this time only two gallons will fit because the five gallon bottle already had three gallons in it. so you are left with exactly one gallon in the three gallon bottle.

    Empy the five gallon bottle and pour the one gallon you have from the three gallon bottle into the five gallon bottle. then fill up the three gallon bottle all the way, pour it into the five gallon bottle which already has one gallon and you will get exactly four gallons.

    I think I saw it on die hard and figured it out then.

    Here's a real hard one;

    One day a man with no brothers or sisters is painting picture. When he is done he looks at the man in his painting and says "the man in the pictures father is my fathers son".
    So the question is, who is the man in the picture?

    If you start randomly naming people I won't tell you if your right or wrong. Only if you actually think about it I'll tell you the answer.

    The man in the picture is the son of the painter. That's all. Those are not plurals, just genitives.

    It's right, I assure.
    El, don't try to figure it out or your insignificant brain would blow up.
    Just a good friend's advice.

    I got one that shouldn't be too bad,

    There is a father and a son driving in a car. They get into a accident and the father dies but the son is still alive and is taken to the Emergency Room. Upon arriving at the hospital the surgeon says I can't work on this child he is my son.

    Who is the surgeon in relation to the boy?
