    Military and ADD Medications

My son wants to go see a recruiter tomorrow for airforce or army but he has just recently started medication for long undiagnosed ADD. He is on vyvance which makes a huge difference in his ability to read and focus but Im not sure if these medications are permitted in the military.
I have searched on the net and they say that recruiters will lie to you to meet their quota's but I don't want that to happen.
Does anyone have any information regarding this? Many thanks

I think it should be fine, the military wants its soldiers to be at their best... sometimes they even give stimulants such as vyvanse to troops for long or tedious missions. If there is a just cause for the medication they should allow it.

I know guys that are given adderal (sp?) for extended (96+ hr) combat missions, so I don't think your son's medication should be a problem for him as long as he doesn't try to hide it. Recruiters WILL lie about anything and everything to sign people up, they have a sales job...think of them like military car salesmen. If the recruiter tells your son to not mention he's on medication and yada yada, go find a different recruiter.

Thanks everyone for your imput. When I searched the web for info all I found was negatives. I know the meds make a huge difference for him and he is a totally different person with them. He contemplated not mentioning anything about it but I don't think that's good. I guess either they want him or not he will have to give it a try. I just wasn't sure if anyone here had any experience with it. Will be meeting with recruiters next week. I just hope it goes well for him. Air Force first.
