I just found out I am highly intolerant to OATS, wheat, barly, rye and gluten :(

I have had problems with my digestion (last 3 years), especially in the last year. always had a bloated stomach and never knew why. I went to my doctor who told me it was just stress, and he said i should avoid milk. So I did that for 6 months and it never helped at all.

So I went to a professor chick, who sent me for these special food intolerance tests, and it came out that I am highly intolerant to OATS, wheat, barly, rye and gluten. I have eaten oats everyday for the last 2 years! No wonder my stomach has been f****. And it really sucks because i absolutely love my oats in the morning
oh well. It seems I just have to greatly alter my lifestyle.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what i can eat for breakfast? I have to stay away from cereals and OATS

did you have severe gas along w/ the bloated feeling? I sometimes wonder if I have food allergies for certain foods because I get extreme gas (like clear the room farts, lol).

YES it was the worst. I tried everything seriously.
so I used this company called http://www.mdsafrica.net
They specialise in food sensitivities, they rate your sensitivity of each food from a 1 to a 4. 1 being not so sensitive, 4 being highly intolerant.
But they are based here in South africa, so don't think hey could help you

How in any way would these help with issues or cyclic allergies or intolerances?
Not trying to be mean but if you dont know about them dont give speculative advice, as it sjust plain wrong.

You should be trying to eat heirloom grains. I would go with quinoa, amaranth, kamut or spelt.

Try one and wait 72 hours before trying the next to asses any issues or allergies. Or you may have celiacs in that case there are other things to rebuild the microvilli in your SI.

What do you think about traditional grains like the ones I mentioned above. I dont use them personally but seem to suit people with allergies very well as they are unprocessed and unrefined with good active enzymes present.

Yes I am currently using a digestive aid. I use a human grade pro biotic, which is the best kind you get.

I can't eat high fibre cereal because I am also intolerant to wheat.. which sucks. so I just stick to maize porrige, fruit and eggs

Let's see... Kamut, I like. I've never had an issue with them... though I'm very allergic to the standard grains (oats to a sigificant degree). I've used it in my contest prep for carb-loading.

Amaranth, I've had in combination 'whole grain' pasta (the 'ancient grains' type which utilizes quinoa etc)... Never had an issue with it.

Some of my clients use quinoa with no issue.

Spelt, I've had in combination with other 'ancient grains'. I know it's being marketed as a non-allergen... but people with wheat allergies, particularly the servere manifestations, may still react negatively to it.

Though not a fan of grains (at all), if I had to suggest two grains... it'd be kamut and quinoa.

NB: To the OP... if you're gluten intolerant, avoid spelt at all costs.
