    Acne and HRT doses

Gents, I have fairly recently (6 months ago) developed some horrible acne and I wanted to get an idea of what I'm dealing with. Basically I started breaking out badly at the end of summer on my shoulder and lower back (love handles almost exclusively). They are the deep cystic acne that develops deeply in the skin and never really forms a head...very painful especially in that area. I am on 200mg/wk Test Cyp., prescribed by my doc.

Here's what is nuts about the entire thing. I was using that dosage for about 4 months prior to the breakout and had clear skin...but I was laying out at the beach more.

I have recently been prescribed Solodyn and Retin-A as well and it seems to be helping.

Anyone had any experience from late onset of acne? I've never really considered myself being prone to it, but I suppose its a good thing I don't take higher dosages right? I read somewhere else on here that using a shorter ester (Enanthate) may help. Should I ask my doc about this?

Some people see clearer skin simply by employing the use of an AI while on their TRT dosage. An AI will eliminate a % of estrogen from the body (IE) arimidex. You could talk to your doctor about prescribing you this. (by the way, he may want to give you a blood-test first to establish if your estrogen levels are a bit high right now, etc..)

    Solodyn and Retin-A might work.

If it doesn't clear up from those medications then IMO your only option will be accutane. It's the strongest acne medicine on the market, and it's incomparable in it's ability to heal cystic acne.

    Best of luck,

    -VM

Hey bro, thanks for the input. In regards to the A-dex, I have about 20 pills left over from a previous prescription and was wondering if they retain their shelf-life and what dose you would recommend if I decided to hop back on it for a short period. I just want to try and knock this out fairly quickly since I have a vacation to the Virgin Islands planned in March.

As far as blood tests go, i just had one done about 3 months ago and my doc didn't see anything abnormal. I usually get checked out about every 6 months anyways.

Ok... well here's the thing, I'm not a huge fan of employing the use of an AI unless your estrogen is too elevated.

However, in your situation it should be fine (since you aren't looking for serious muscle building gains... as estrogen does play a role in muscle growth.)

Basically I would suggest you try the a-dex @ 0.25mg every 2nd day. (you will have to cut the pills up -- usually they come in 1mg pills.. so you may have to quarter yours.)

Ah, good to know. So it worked for those 5 months then correct? I may ask to switch over here in the coming months if I'm not cleared up by April...I can't be going to the beach and pools with this sh!t on my back.

I've been fighting acne on my TRT dosage for a few months as well. My dosage was changed in June of last year(to 300mg every 10 days) but the acne, like yours, didn't show itself until about Nov. I think my sun exposure over the summer helped prevent alot of it.

My dr cut my dose and ordered new blood tests. These will be five weeks or so after the drop in dosage(300mgtestc to 200mg every 10 days split in 2 shots). My estrogen was 59 on a 20-50scale being normal.

I find that a tanning bed also helps acne alot. My Dr is waiting til after the blood tests to take a look at an AI or other specific acne treatment.
