    Steroid use vs. abuse - how much is too much?

    I'm sure there are threads about this already, but for some reason the search engine just gives me an error message.

    Anyways, I think we all (?) can agree that there is such a thing as too much roids. Is there such a thing as a rule of thumbs as to how much roids is considered safe, and how much is considered abuse?

    I started doing roids in my early 20s (too soon, I know), but only sporadically and only 8 weeks of 250mgs of test. a week (just to see what all the fuzz was about). After reaching a body weight of about 240lbs without any serious roid use, I started going 8 weeks on, 8-12 weeks off, using about 500 mgs of testo.

    I got good results from this, but after being set back by a knee injury that just wouldn't let go for almost a year, I've decided to do 500 mg of testo, and 400mg of masteron (not the drug I originally wanted to use, but it was the best my dealer could do), in order to get back in shape ASAP (I trained naturally for a good while, but muscle memory alone won't get me back in the shape I want to be in this year).

    For someone who lives healthy (no alcohol, no tobacco, plenty of sleep, good diet withouth being fanatic), and has off periods equaling time on - where should alarm bells go off? I mean, at some point my current dose will stop giving me the results I want, and I'll probably add some tren, then some d-bol and then.....

    Are we all playing Russian roulette, or are the horror stories about 30 year olds dying of heart attacks, and teenagers on dialysis the results of morons mixing roids with narcotics, going on never ending cycles, and using 5 grams of testo a week? Where do we draw the line?

    I've thought about this as well and there's only one course of action I could take that will make it somewhat safer. First of all everything has to be done right; I mean right compounds, right doses, right diet, bloodwork before and after, correct pct etc. Then on top of having everything down I will limit myself to 1 cycle a year. This time frame may even increase over time. With that said I cannot cycle until december

    I say blood work is the only way to really know. Its what separates us from the gym rats they dont know any better or dont care but we monitor things and educate ourselves as best we can.

    I definatly think low doses are somewhat safe untill you stay on forever then you have to monitor things better and obviously abuse will give you health problems eventually and its usually these guys here who swear up and down that steroid use is perfectly safe and so are high doses etc until they are in the hospital.


    There has been alot of cases of steroid abuse leading to health problems Mike Matarozzo comes to mind., and alot of other guys at that time as well. It is not good for you but can be used safely but there is always risks with anything IMO.

    But these guys that end up with health problems, what doses do they use? Are there anyone on this board with medical know-how who can say where the line between use and abuse goes? A gram of testo a week? Two? three?

    There isnt going to be a line, everybody respond differently. You know how some people die of lung cancer but never smoked a day in there life and then there is 80yr olds who have been smoking 2 packs a day for 40 yrs and no cancer?

    Yeah, I know, but as a rule of thumb for the "average Joe"?

    Oh, god, where do I begin? I'd have to say that everything that led to my heart problem began the minute I started getting serious about competitive bodybuilding. In order to get bigger, I'd eat five, six, seven pounds of red meat a day, no vegetables. And I'd stay away from fruits because of their sugar.
    Worst were the chemicals. I have so many memories of being alone in a hotel room the week, five days or two days before a contest, and doing unspeakable things to my body--steroids, growth hormones, diuretics--anything and everything that we as bodybuilders do to achieve a certain look.
    It has affected my whole life, so to all those guys who are on an eternal quest to have 21" arms and 20" calves, and who are so vain about their never-say-die attitude, I say, "Change your attitude." Worry about keeping that body of yours as healthy as possible, because it's going to have to last you not just through your next contest or to the end of your bodybuilding contract, but for a long time. And a long time for a human being is nothing. It goes by real quick, even quicker when your health is gone and you have nothing to stand on.

    That is from Mike Matarazzo. I watched that interview a real eye opener for alot of people. Unfortunately there are tooo many guys that will just argue that it must have been something else that caused his heart attack because AAS are 100 percent safe its sad.
