    Whey Protein vs Homemade Shake

Alright, I know whey protein absorbs in your muscles faster, and all that.

For the past month, I've substituted out whey protein powder, and I've been making my own shakes. They are more or less weight gainer shakes.

1 egg, 3 egg whites, 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter, skim milk, 1 banana, and a couple scoops of some instant carnation breakfast mix.

My question is, will taking a whey protein shake post workout benefit all that much that having the homemade shake above? So far my gains have been steady, almost better then when I was taking whey, so why change. Plus I save money

I think the purpose of the whey shakes are that they are quickly absorbed. Then again eggs are one of the best protein sources and if your drinking it should be absorbed rather quickly. But the main thing is it's working for you, if it works 'why fix something that ain't broke' right?
