ok I got some nearly 2 month old peptide mixed in sterile water if I add some........

bac water into the vial will this kill any bacteria that might have developed

so I would only have to worry about the potency of the peptide rather than getting some infection or something

or would the bac water had to have been in the vial from the start

please don't just say toss the vial

    thanks

If it has been in a sealed vial, then it will have no bacteria in it. Its good to go. No need to mix anything in.

mr rose it's already been diluted with the sterile water for the last 2 months

    It's not in lyophilized form

That will make no difference to the bacteria in the bottle. Even the benzly alcohol put into distilled water to make BW water does not kill bacteria, it only prevents them from multiplying, by keeping them in a inactive state.

If you had lyophilized powder in a sealed vial, added sterile water and left it for a year it will still not have any more bacteria in it.

You do not have to worry about getting an infection because the vial still is sterile.

Like you said, the only thing to worry about is the potency of the peptide.

Ok that cleared up the part about the adding benzly alcohol into distilled water to make BW water does not killing bacteria"

    thanks

But.. as you say the vial is sealed thus sterile

Then why do people opt for bac water over sterile water?

    Safety precaution.

In the medical field they barely ever, if ever, use BW, because patients can be allergic to BA. Sterile water is all you need IMHO, but for i always use BW, again as a safety precaution.

Also BW acts as a 'preservative' and may (used loosely) increase the shelf life of a drug.
