hey, just had my inguinal hernia repaired, any guys here got any advice on what to do whilst recovering to maintain muscle? or just wait it out 6 weeks or so

I was doing military press several years back and i though i may have subluxed my shoulder. It hurt alot but only for a sec. After that it was sore for about a week or two.
Periodically it would happen again a couple times over the next few years. This reoccurance was rare though and usually just follwed with a week or so of soreness.
During the course of the last year or so though the occurance has been becaome rather frequent. Even happened a couple times while in bed. Its usually over the head motions.
I went to the doctor and they said it could be impingement syndrome. Though the first doctor said it was just sore from working out....I hate doctors like the first guy.
Eitherway, I am not sure what i should do. Arre there excersices for impingemnt syndrome. I am not sure why this keeps occuring so frquently now. Alot of things i was able to do before i can no longer do.
