painful vs non painful injects

Today I was injecting with 1.5 23g in the glute, upon insertion I felt a really really sharp pain. I thought I hit a vein so I pulled out with no abnormal blood spurts (same pain as when I hit a vein in my quad). I switched needles and proceeded to inject the other side, this time with no pain as usual. What causes the difference?

you hit a nerve cluster.. switch to a 25g

I've not had any issues with the Rx grade stuff.. 1.5 inch needles.. no worries...

The UGL stuff I ran in the past HURT like a MF'er sometimes

yea i hit that bundle one time with a 23g... i was too lazy to turn around and do it so asked the wife... yea bad idea.... make sure you're at the right angle lol...

I hit them in my quad all the time. I simply pull out and move over 1/2"...
