Have you ever tried to make someone understand the benefits of lifting

It sucks. My one friend went from pulling some pretty good stuff in his high school / college years to being a chubby chaser in his 30's now. I could tell similar (and far worse) stories about other people around me.

So I decide i'm going to do a good deed.. dozens of times I talk to them about diet, offer to workout with them, offer to start them out with just one muscle group like biceps. Nothing. Nada. Its like, they can't connect that A+B = C. That they will likely be boning fat and/or homely chicks the rest of their life unless they make a change (get rich or get big two obvious ones).

Tough love is the best policy bro. I went through a slump about 4 years ago to where I was happy eating like shat and looking like it. Thank god my best friend who is like a brother to me pretty much slapped the shit out of me and dragged me to the gym. The rest is history... lol

My best friend sort of falls into this catagory......

He's 6'4 215lbs..... He got some anadrol and wanted to get some test to run with it. He got too anxious and started taking the anadrol at 100mg's/day and then realised he was running out and cut it back to 50mg's ED.

This kid worked out for the 1st two weeks he was on them and hasn't been in the gym since but swears the abombs are working. His excuse is that he works too much and he's tired when he gets home.

Now my father on the other hand was working in construction for 28 years..... he ALWAYS found time to lift.....

I've tried talking to my friend..... theres no getting through to him. So I just gave up and stopped nagging him..... stopped giving him advice that he'd never take anyways.....

Yet everytime he see's me he gets all motivated to get big all over again.....

nobody convinced me to want to be big...not directly anyway. Ever since that first He-man episode, I wanted that to be me. Wanted to be the biggest and strongest. Nobody can convince me otherwise.

I think if you have to try to convince someone or nag them to get into lifting the chances of them sticking with it are pretty slim. There is a reason why they are not working out in the first place.

to be honest, after me and my girlfriend broke up i wanted to find a hobby instead of just working, my friend has been going to the gym mon-fri for 2 years so i figured what the hell. got me a membership 3 months later i was pretty much addicted but just basic then i found this forum and i read it ever day and get more and more addicted. now the gym is my life. i cant wait to reach my goals. and now that im started to have all the changes my friends see it and i have had 4 friends join without me even saying they should. 1 of them is left, the other dropped it lol

Unless your 13 years old, just dicovering weights, you're not gonna convince anyone of sht. You can only help people discover new things, not take up sht their fat asses already quit.

Besides, keep em fat so we all have something to laugh at. I like it when people get so fat that it affects their speech b/c their cheeks are to thick.

When i try, i get stuck when they make smart comments and then i give up!!

How would you even begin to try and convince someone to start lifting? i have a friend in college and i would love next year to get him into it, hes put on some extra weight and need to drop some body fat and shape up, gotta try and convince him
